In the ever changing beauty empire, new fragrances are constantly being introduced. However, it seems that cosmetic companies are finding it increasingly difficult to manufacture scents that are both captivating and unique.
Many times when I sample a new fragrance, I can instantly detect a similarity to scents already on the market. The constant monotony is discouraging and I find myself wary to stray from my favorites.
While shopping at Sephora recently, I was pleasantly surprised when I sampled two new fragrances. Believe it or not, one of them was Kim Kardashian's self-titled debut scent and the other Play by Givenchy, featuring Justin Timberlake in the advertisements.
Kardashian's perfume is sensual and enticing. It evokes sophistication and glamour with lush floral notes of honey suckle, orange blossom, pink jasmine, tuberose and gardenia.
The base combines tonka bean, jacaranda wood and sandalwood for a warmness that is impossible to resist. The sales associate informed me that it is quickly becoming a bestseller which is easy to see. Kardashian is a household name due to her family's hit reality show and sizzling sex appeal. Capitalizing on her fame with a fragrance is the move of a smart businesswoman.
Givenchy's newest cologne is masculine and alluring. Its fresh, bold scent comes from top notes of bergamot, mandarin orange, bitter orange and grapefruit.
As it wears on the skin, amyris wood, black pepper and coffee flower accord emerge for a striking aura. Base notes of vetyver and patchouli finish the fragrance with a modern edge.
Givenchy was smart to select Justin Timberlake as the face of this crisp new scent. His good looks and confident attitude are sure to be a hit with women eager for their boyfriend to smell irresistible. Plus, men can relate to his cool, casual demeanor and strong star power.
I highly recommend both of these fragrances to anyone shopping for a new scent. With Valentine's Day right around the corner, why not purchase a bottle for a significant other?
After all, fragrance is a mutually beneficial gift that is certain to keep both parties under its spell long after the evening has ended.
