In a genre skewed with many movies reproducing the same thing over and over again, Paranormal Activity gives us a breath of fresh air in the horror movie genre. From the very beginning of the movie until the very last second, movie goers find themselves entranced with the true horror writer/director Oren Peli brings to the screen.

As in most horror films these days, we know they are completely fictional. This is not the case in Paranormal Activity. Being shot in a homemade style gives it the same feel as the Blair Witch Project, equally as terrifying for the time when it came out.

From the very beginning of the movie, we get a sense that something is wrong in Micah and Katie's home. These are the two main characters who are engaged in living together. Ever since Katie was young she has had the feeling that a ghost or spirit has been following her, leading to Micah buying the camera and filming the strange happenings around the home.

The movie progressively gets darker and darker, with more horrifying, indistinct activities that occur within the house. From doors opening on their own to unexplainable noises and footsteps, each minute of this film leaves people watching it on the edge of their seat.

One of the key draw-ins I found personally to this movie is that it seemed so real; everything from the homemade movie style to the storyline. The fact that this wasn't one of the gory Saw-type movies most certainly will attract a lot of people.

With an ending certainly unexpected to say the least, Paranormal Activity is a must see horror film which will most definitely be remembered as one the most horrifying films of 2009.
