Twenty Bridgewater State College students represented Circle K International as volunteers at a community "Harvest Fest" at Sheep Pastor in Easton, M.A. on October 5, 2008.

The National Resources Trust of Easton (NRTE) holds a "Harvest Fest" annually for people of all ages. The "Harvest Fest" includes an enticing array of activities for both children and adults, offering fun events such as face painting and pony riding for kids.

Adults can spend their time admiring original stained glass, local photography, and hand-made crafts.

People of all ages may enjoy delicious treats like the locally made soups, ciders, and desserts found at stands dispersed throughout a small portion of Easton's 154-acre farm and conservation area.

Despite the drizzly weather, BSC students joined Easton's community and volunteered as face painters and gate keepers in varying shifts between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. The Patriot Ledger reports that nearly 15,000 people attended last year's "Harvest Fest" and it is not surprising why.

NRTE offers more than just fun activities and tasty treats; the non-profit organization encourages both a heart-warming and important goal -which the official NRTE website defines as "to educate [the youth] about significant natural and cultural resources and to acquire and preserve land of special character for the benefit of the public".

NRTE sponsors the "Sheep Pastor Nature Camp" every summer, offering children between ages 5 and 12 the opportunity to explore nature through games, crafts, and songs.

All activities teach campers about local ecology and the importance of taking care of the environment and natural resources.

Circle K International, consisting of roughly 11,000 members in 17 nations, is one of the largest collegiate community service organizations in the world. The "Six Cents Initiative" is one of Circle K's most well-known services, an international fundraiser aiming to provide clean drinking water for about 2.2 children worldwide.

At BSC, Circle K members recently participated in activities ranging from tail-gating the New England Revolution game to making fleece blankets for local homeless shelters.

Next week, many Circle K members will participate in the "Out of the Darkness" walk for Suicide Prevention in Boston, MA on October 11, 2008.
