My year in review

For my final opinion this year I would like to try writing something other than my usual rants and raves about the sporting world. Instead I would like to reflect upon my first year here both at The Comment and Bridgewater State College. Overall I had a great freshman year here, I made new friends, learned how to live on my own and gained a sense of maturity that I didn't have during high school. Oh yeah, and I learned some academic stuff too.

I would like to thank everyone at The Comment for helping me and showing me the ropes this year especially Shawn for taking me under his wing and Steven M. Miller Jr. (he only accepts the use of his full name) who basically wrote the entire sports section this year. Hopefully all the work you guys devoted to helping me along will pay off next year when I become sports editor. I also would like to wish Tim and Eric the best of luck as they graduate and enter the real world; they have been very helpful for me this year as well. Overall I have had a great year working for The Comment.

Ok, I got this far but I'd be remiss if I failed to mention what a great year in sports New England fans have experienced this year. The Sox won again and I enjoyed every moment of it as many of you probably saw me celebrating disguised as a banana with a Manny Jersey on (and I'd like to emphasize that alcohol played no factor in my wardrobe). The Patriots broke our hearts as they went for 21-0 only to lose to the Giants in the Super Bowl (I'll never hear the end from my grandfather) the Celtics have been great all year (although they're looking a little shaky right now against the Hawks) and to our surprise even the bruins managed to win some playoff games ( and hell still hasn't frozen over) all we can do is hope we can have even half the year we did this year in sports next year.

From a housing standpoint, I can't wait till next year when I don't get basically strip searched every time I come in the door (ah Shea-Durgin, how I love to hate you) and even though I currently don't have a room (thanks for nothing housing lottery) I'm sure its going to be an improvement over this years arrangement (come on Miles-Dinardo!, Fingers crossed). I can't complain too much about it though, because overall the building was clean (except our bathroom…I basically share a floor with animals) the kids on my floor were all pretty friendly and my R.As were helpful.

For next year I would also like to make some resolutions to make my time here more exciting and productive.

First I would like to be more outgoing; I've made some great friends here, but tell me who can't use more of those. I would also like maybe eat healthier (I haven't eaten a vegetable in like a month) especially because the addition of my car will mean the subtraction of exercise, and the addition of a few pounds, which I actually could use… maybe I shouldn't eat healthy. Overall I would like to just relax and enjoy my time in college because, as I discovered this year, it goes by too fast and before you know it, its gone.
