BSC already meets requirements to be called a university, with the exception of offering doctoral programs, which will be added into the program if the school does make the switch. Apparently, changing the name to Bridgewater State University is not a huge change, but there will be in a huge change in regards to recognition for the college.
All this makes me wonder if the change will affect the students, including myself, that are graduating in May. Will we get to see Bridgewater State University on our diplomas?
Personally, I would love that. Overseas, colleges are looked at like high schools. University status is big in terms of the level and quality of education. I do not think it is fair that I should graduate under the label "college" while students who graduate 6 months later get to have the university title when they've been at the school for nearly the same time as I have.
Either way, I am happy with the education I have gotten and I am also pleased that the school might be making this change because I think this school is fantastic in regards to education and everything else. BSC deserves to be looked at as prestigious.
I truly think that BSC?officials should consider printing Bridgewater State University on May graduates' diplomas. I believe it may help us get jobs because of the prestigious title and because we put the same amount of effort into a college diploma as we would for a university diploma
