A long-awaited decision surrounding the eligibility of two candidates' seeking offices in this spring's Student Government Association election has at last been delivered after weeks of debate. Brendan Joyce and Jovan Perez, both write-in candidates, have been removed from contention for the highly coveted positions of President and Student Trustee, respectively.

BSC Grads to Enter Competitive Job Market
For most, the thought of graduation is refreshing and exciting. Classes are ending soon and another batch of Bridgewater State College students are ready to take on the world, or so they hope. The nation is facing the highest unemployment rate in decades and statistics are showing that 22 percent less of those graduating will be hired this year - more than double last year's figure.

Earth Day Celebration

More than 250 people gathered together at the Rondileau Campus Center on the morning of Saturday, April 18 for Bridgewater State College's 4th annual Earth Day Celebration. These volunteers were all put to work throughout the college campus and at local conservation park sites as they united in a mission to beautify the environment.

Silver Screen Sensations

Screeches, screams, and explosions could all be heard radiating from the Rondileau Campus Center Ballroom last Wednesday, but for good reason. Bridgewater State College was celebrating its second annual Campus MovieFest (CMF). Before this final screening of the movies, students were given the challenge to prepare a film in a week's time.

The Bridgewater State College Computer Science Club comprised of Antonio Beltran, Brian MacAllister, Alex Myers, Russell Nickerson, alumni Nick Anastasia, and advisor John Santore traveled to Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut to compete in the Trinity College Home Firefighting Robot Competition.

Year in Review

One adjective that will not be used by anyone looking to describe this past school year is "uneventful." The academic year saw changes come not only to Bridgewater State College and its campus, but also to the world. It has been a year of many firsts and also many lasts.

Fair Trade Fair

April 14, 2009 was a day for the farmers, the workers, and all the other people in the world who spend their days creating and selling goods to make a living. On that day, the Social Justice League joined forces with Professor James Hayes-Bohanan and his students in this spring's "The Secret Life of Coffee" seminar to hold a Fair Trade Fair and Coffee Tasting Event, an experience designed to educate the Bridgewater community about the importance of fair trade and workers' rights.
