Residence Life and Housing announced the new housing costs for the 2007-2008 school year in February. The prices for all residence halls have risen since the 2006-2007 school year. The largest increase is the cost to live in either Pope or Scott Hall, which has risen by $790.

With the binding contract between Bridgewater State College and Sodexho set to expire in 2008, negotiations are set to begin sometime next semester.

Bridgewater State College is going to be introducing a new program, the Middle Eastern program. It is an offspring of the Asian program that is also offered to students. In the future it is hoped that Middle Eastern classes will be offered in the curriculum.

Dr. William Lewis of Indianapolis, Indiana has recently become the first director of Institutional Diversity at Bridgewater State. His goal is to work with the college community to organize diverse programs. On April 10, he spoke with a journalism class about the new, integral role he will play in the college.

Army Captain Anthony Palermo, a former Brockton resident, was killed in action in Iraq Friday, March 6 when an IED exploded near his Humvee. Anthony was a four year cadet at Norwich University (Sept. 1998 - Feb. 2002), active in ARMY ROTC, and a member of the Mountain Cold Weather Rescue team.
