Community service makes a difference
BSC's Community Service Center offers many opportunities for students and faculty to help others. The center opened in September 2004, which was when Community Service Director Diane Bell started her work here at BSC. Prior to her entering this position, Bell was linked to professional sports.

Biology professor receives prestigious $150,000 AREA grant

Bridgewater State College's Assistant Biology Professor Merideth Krevosky received news in early March that she had received the National Institute of Health's Academic Research Enhancement Grant for $150,000. The grant is provided to support undergraduate research projects.

New volunteer leadership

Rich Henderson likes to help people. His recent election as President of Circle K is only the next step in his community service career. ''I just like helping people,'' Henderson said . Circle K club, which is an organization on campus involved in community service of all kinds, including Walk for Hunger, Habitat for Humanity and volunteering at the Bridgewater Senior Center.

Status decision imminent

In an April 4 roundtable discussion, members of the Bridgewater State College Board of Trustees informed the audience that they were to go through with submitting a plan to move forward en route of becoming a university. An ad hoc committee was formed so that the Board could research and come up with a clear plan on the process of becoming a university.
