Massachusetts made history Tuesday when its Supreme Judicial Court ruled (4-3) that attorneys for the government "failed to identify any constitutionally adequate reason" to deny same-sex couples the right to marry. The ruling stated, "We declare that barring an individual from the protections, benefits, and obligations of civil marriage solely because that person would marry a person of the same sex violates the Massachusetts Constitution.
BSC discusses a mandatory notebook computer policy

With the increased demand for updated computers and more lab space on campus, Bridgewater is currently negotiating a mandatory notebook computer requirement of all incoming students.
Director of Information Technology Bill Davis reported that Bridgewater is "in the forefront of education and technology," and the proposed notebook requirement would add to these strengths.

The Bridgewater State College music department presented the Third Annual Multicultural Music Festival, on Thursday November 6, 2003 in the Campus Center Auditorium.
There were singers, dancers, a jazz band, a pianist, an artist, and our very own African Drumming Ensemble, Khakatay.

On November 5th, President Bush signed into law the Partial Abortion Ban Act of 2003. What he claimed was, "a terrible form of violence...against children who are inches from birth", partial birth abortion, is now illegal.
Just before signing the controversial bill, Bush thanked all of those who helped create the bill, listing names like John, Tommy, Rick, Mike, Steve, Henry, Jim, Tom, Bart.

In the past BSC had only a few photography courses to choose from, mainly for media majors as an elective option, or for the few students who are taking a photo course in order to learn the basics about modern photography. I recall looking into photography, and I was a little disappointed at the sparse choices, so I took the time recently to look at the fall 2003 course schedule to see how sparse it was.

Bridgewater STATE College. There's no hiding it; it's in our name. We are a higher education institution partially funded by Massachusetts's taxpayers. What does this mean? It means that the state is paying for a portion of your education while the rest is coming straight out of your pocket.

On Tuesday, SGA held their weekly meeting in the library lecture hall to host Dr. Robert Fitzgibbons of the philosophy department and Dr. Frank Gorga of the chemistry department. Fitzgibbons and Gorga are the co-chairs of the General Education Review, a committee designed to reevaluate the current core curriculum and set up a new program.

Last week at their annual elections, Sigma Pi Fraternity chose six new officers, including a new president, Mike Courville. Mike has been a part of Sigma Pi since his freshman year, joining the Alpha Epsilon pledge class in the spring of 2002.
